Robert Tweed

There are men who simply settle and men who want more in their lives. Rusty “Robert” Tweed is a man who goes above and beyond when it comes to personal accomplishments. He is a man of status and class whenever it comes to providing for others as well. He was born in Waterloo, Ontario Canada and grew up with humble beginnings. Robert was raised on his family’s horse farm and learned the value of hard work. Although his family heritage belonged in the finance industry, he would learn about the hard work that goes into raising horses.

Robert would oftentimes follow his family around from various horse competitions. He would spend his summers riding and taming the horses for the upcoming competitions that they would participate in. He would learn various styles of riding during this time. Western style of riding and jumping styles were things that Robert excelled at. His mentor had trained some of the Canadian Olympic team when it came to jumping.

Though horses were a big part of Robert’s life growing up, finance is where he would make a sizeable impact upon the rest of the world. The Tweed family is a multi-generational family that has many shares in the financial world. Sydney Tweed, his great uncle, had founded the Equitable Life of Canada Foundation. His grandfather founded an insurance brokerage named CW Tweed & Son, Inc. The family would help run these businesses for many years to come. Robert would look up to the rest of his family and begin to show an interest in entrepreneurship.

Robert had shown incredible amounts of interest in entrepreneurs at a very young age. He began a snow removal service whenever he was still in high school and would provide this service to the neighborhood. It is here that he learned that his passions were truly embedded into becoming an entrepreneur. He would take his passions and begin creating businesses that would bring positive impacts to those who became involved with them.

Volunteer Work

Robert loves to volunteer whenever he gets the chance. He strongly believes in giving back to the community. He has held countless fundraisers for the NY Detox Center and The New Orleans Detox Center. He works regularly at his college scholarship to ensure that students receive the funds that they need in order to receive a proper education.

The Rusty Tweed Scholarship is presented to high school or undergraduate students who major in economics or finance courses. The winner of the scholarship is able to receive $1,000 and can apply it to their school expenses. Applicants must answer the question “Why does economics matter to you?” Students are encouraged to use a personal voice whenever writing this essay to stand out from the rest.

Kukui Solar Project

Robert has given back to the world by providing an incredibly generous resource for the children in Kukui. This particular project has been aimed towards providing the shelter for abused children reduced overhead costs when it comes to self-sustaining energy. The mission was to install various solar panels on the rooftops of the Kukui Center. The center is able to produce its own energy. This provides a huge benefit for the children and social workers in the area since most of the area is generally poor. 365 solar panels have been installed with the output of the systems running at 93.5 kw.

Looking Out for Others

Robert genuinely believes in providing for those who cannot provide for himself. His life-long philanthropic endeavors have provided dozens of opportunities for those who are struggling. He continues to work towards providing for all and making the world a better place through his efforts.
